STAGE 10, Jan 12: Fiambala This was the third time in three years the Dakar passed Fiambala and for the third time most competitors will remember this stage as a very tough day. Soft sand, difficult dunes and high temperatures coming down from the Andes demanded all the skills the competitors could offer. In the majestic dunes that dominated this stage, the depth of the dips formed by the mountains of sand traps racers who become lost into an endless scene of maneuvers. Many of the Dakar bikers experienced this in Stage 9 which began with a grouped start near Copiapo. Dakar Rally Stage 7 & 8 Report
Stage 7 finish on Sunday January 9 found Quinn in a solid position, capturing an 11th position overall and poised to crack the top ten in Stage 8.
